MAJOR GIFTS, AWARDS AND FOUNDATIONS

Generous donations of $10,000 or more have a powerful impact on Sail Canada athletes, and the next generation of sailors, to achieve their dreams. Creating an award, donating through your Foundation or making a sizable personal donation will help athletes on their journey to the podium, and prepare the pathway for the next generation of sailors.

GIFTS OF SECURITIES

When you provide a gift of securities to Sail Canada, you are creating an immediate impact on athletes and next generation sailors, while not having to pay taxes on capital gains. A tax receipt will be issued for the closing price recorded on the day the securities are received. Securities can include stocks, mutual funds, segregated funds, bonds, flow-through shares and employee stock options. You can give now, or as part of your estate and will planning.

ENDOWMENT

Your gift to the Sail Canada Foundation is an investment in our athletes, coaches and our sport system for years to come. As the capital is never spent, the income earned provides ongoing funding to support our next generation.

Donors have two options when making an Endowed Gift.1. Donation to the Sail Canada Foundation. This supports the highest priority needs each year,2. Create a Named Fund whereby the Donor has the opportunity to direct the funds to an area of specific interest.

LEGACY & ESTATES

A legacy gift allows you the satisfaction of knowing that you are contributing to the ongoing success of Sail Canada, which will not affect your income during your lifetime. In addition, gifts made to charitable organizations will offer significant tax benefits and a bequest to the Sail Canada Foundation will reduce the amount of taxes owed by your estate.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Sail Canada established the Financial Assistance Program (FAP) to distribute donations from supporting individuals and companies to programs deemed by Sail Canada to be eligible to receive such monies. ADDITIONAL WAYS TO SUPPORT

Donating Aeroplan Points allows Sail Canada to redeem within the Aeroplan Program to ease expenses on such things as air travel, car rental and accommodation stays for our Team Athletes, their Coaches, and the Learning Facilitators & Course Conductors of our Instructor & Official development programs.
