Racing at the 2020 Finn European Championships started today In Gdynia, Poland. The Event includes 6 days of racing in the Gulf of Gdansk.
This is the first major event that Tom Ramshaw, from the Canadian Sailing Team, and most of the 42 athletes will be competing in since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the virus, all events leading up to this have been cancelled causing athletes to train in home waters.
“The decision was not taken lightly”, says High Performance Director, Mike Milner. “After extensive review and looking at the limited training opportunities for our Finn sailor the decision was made by the High performance team and Tom to go to Europe.” This event will help Tom train for the upcoming Olympics as he competes against some of the best in the world.
