Another event in the books for our CST & CSDS members! The 2020 Laser Senior European Champions wrapped up today in Gdansk, Poland, leaving Sarah Douglas (CST), amongst the top ten finishers in the Laser Radial.
Being back on the water with tricky conditions and competing against some of the top athletes brought some action packed racing. The beginning of the week saw some good and consistent results but as the conditions shifted things began to change. “It was a grey and cold event with challenging conditions” Sarah comments, “I am most proud of my mental preparations and staying focused on the process for this event. It was great to be back racing with the international fleet. It had been 8 months since the last big competition so it was important to see how we lined up against the top athletes from around the world after a lot of training in Canada this summer.”
Scoring a bullet in one of the last races of the event, Sarah Douglas, managed to place herself in 6th place overall. Followed by her teammates, Maura Dewey (63rd), Clara Gravely (65th), and Coralie Vittecoq (70th).
Nothing is better than seeing our athletes back on international waters competing again! Keep on cheering our Canadian sailors as they continue on.
