Athlete Bio

Growing up, Georgia found her passion for sailing at the Chester Yacht Club. She soon joined the Canadian Optimist Atlantic Sailing Team, along with the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron Race Team. From a young age, Georgia knew she wanted to compete at an Olympic Games.

In the Fall 2021, her team won the bronze medal at the 2021 49erFX European Championships held in Greece, then finished 6th overall at the 2021 49erFX Sailing World Championships in Oman, posting the best Canadian performance ever at this competition that has been held since 2013. Her team was also named Georgia graduated from Queen’s University with an undergraduate degree in civil engineering. With her sister, she is aiming to medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

At their first Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, they recorded Canada’s best-ever Olympic performance in 49erFX, an event which has been part of the Games program since Rio 2016, with an 11th-place finish.

Georgia and Antonia Lewin-LaFrance won the 2022 Rolex Sailors of the Year Award.
