“Sailing for All” Application 2025

Sail Canada is pleased to relaunch the “Sailing for All” Program for 2025, funded by the Government of Canada. Applications are now being accepted until March 27, 2025.

The Sailing for All Program aims to serve individuals from underserved or underrepresented groups, by welcoming them to Sail Canada Member Clubs/Schools to experience the sport of sailing.

Last year, over 700 new participants took part in the sport across six provinces through this funding providing sailing experiences at no or low cost to the participants.

Funding Overview:

  • Funding amounts are expected to be $1000 – $5000 per selected program.
  • Programs will be selected based on meeting the Sailing for All eligibility criteria.
  • Consideration will be given to ensuring representation across the regions of Canada.
  • 20% of allocated funds will be directed towards activities supporting accessible sailing programs.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The program is open to all Sail Canada Member Clubs, Schools, Organizations and community partners delivering Sail Canada Programs (CANSail, Cruising/Keelboat) using:
    • Registered Sail Canada Instructors/Coaches;
    • The Sail Canada online participant reporting platform (Checklick).
  • Programs must be delivered at very low or no cost to participants;
  • Participant demographic information including the group they represent must be reported to Sail Canada in the format requested;
  • Programming must be delivered during the 2025 sailing season, in Canada;
  • Programs must target one or more of the following groups: Black, Indigenous, Racialized, 2SLFBTQI+, Low-Income People, Persons with a Disability, Newcomers to Canada, Seniors;
  • Funding may be used to reduce or eliminate registration fees, offset program delivery costs including daily expenses, Instructor/Coach salaries, equipment (use of boats, safety equipment, PFD’s), fuel, teaching supports (books, teaching aids, etc..);
  • A maximum of 15% of the funding received can be used for General Administration.

The application deadline for the Sailing for All Program is 11:59 pm (Eastern time) on March 27th, 2025.
