Sail Canada Offshore Special Regulations updated

Sail Canada is pleased to share an important update regarding the World Sailing Offshore Special Regulations (OSR). Following our November 11th newsletter announcement, we wish to inform you that the updated Sail Canada abbreviated OSR documents, including Canadian prescriptions, are now available on our website.

These updates reflect urgent changes introduced in the 2024-2025 OSR rules cycle, aimed at improving clarity and interpretation. Key amendments include:

  • Rule 4.27.1: Clarifications regarding the purpose and construction of storm sails.
  • Rule 3.14.1: Adjustments to correct interpretation issues related to stanchions and pulpits.

While additional submissions were approved at the recent World Sailing Annual Conference, these will only take effect with the comprehensive 2026 OSR update.

We encourage organizing authorities and racers to review the updated documents now to assist with planning for the 2025 offshore racing season. Visit our website to access these essential resources and ensure compliance with the latest regulations. For more information, please contact the Sail Canada Offshore Group at offshore@sailing.ca

Thank you for your attention to this important update, and we wish you a safe and successful racing season ahead!
