Melodie Schaffer heading to Toronto to celebrate

Melodie Schaffer heading is currently heading to the Toronto area this summer promoting her boat and her next, 2-crew, around the world campaign in 2025. There will be a flotilla welcome then Whisky Jack will be moored at RCYC for a time.

Melodie Schaffer raced in the Globe 40 inaugural around the world race in her Class 40 boat, Whiskey Jack, in 2022-2023. Whiskey Jack was the only Canadian boat in the race and she was the only female skipper for the entire race.

She has raced offshore for 6 years and has sailed 80,000 nautical miles. She has competed in many offshore events including the Caribbean 600 (3x), Antigua to Bermuda race, Fastnet race, as well as two legs in the Clipper race and doublehanded in the Trans Jacques Vabre race and the Normandy Channel race.
She has sailed her whole life, competing at national and international levels. She began training at the RCYC and racing high performance dinghies including laser’s, 470’s and International 14’s. She continued racing in keel boats including 8m, Sharks and J105’s as tactician, foredeck or skipper.

Currently Melodie is en route from Falmouth UK with a stop in Newfoundland and Labrador scheduled to arrive in Toronto approximately the third week of July.
