The competition will be held July 7-9
Kingston, July 4, 2023 – Kingston will host the top Canadian athletes in Kiteboarding, a discipline that will be one of the new Olympic events at Paris 2024, as part of the Sail Canada 2023 Senior Kiteboarding Championships that will take place July 7-9 at Lake Ontario Park in Kingston, ON.
This competition will be held alongside FoilKingston, FORK Regatta and CORK Olympic Classes Regatta in Kiteboarding as well as the Canadian WASZP Championships, all organized by CORK Kingston.
The Sail Canada 2023 Senior Kiteboarding Championships will also serve as a qualifier for Canadian athletes in Kiteboarding for the upcoming 2023 Youth Sailing World Championships. The 2023 Youth Sailing World Championships, which are an important stepping stone for sailors who are 19 years of age or less on their way to making the Canadian Sailing Team and Development Squad, will be held December 8-16 in Brazil.
A total of 42 athletes will be taking part in this week’s event as a whole, including 15 in the Sail Canada 2023 Kiteboarding Championships. Amongst the Kiteboarding athletes in action will be Mac Morrin from Kingston, ON, and Emily Bugeja from Vancouver, who both qualified to be nominated to Team Canada for the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, as well as Nathan Pearce from North Vancouver, B.C., who finished 16th at the 2022 Youth Sailing World Championships in The Hague, NED.
Races will be held according to the following schedule:
Sail Canada 2023 Senior Kiteboarding Championships
-Friday, July 7: races start at 11am
-Saturday, July 8: races start at 11am
-Sunday, July 9: races start at 11am
