Inclusion, Diversity and Equity to highlight Sail Canada Virtual Annual General Meeting Friday

Past accomplishments and new initiatives, including Inclusion, Diversity and Equity, among topics to be discussed

Kingston, October 20, 2021 ‰ÛÒ Sail Canada will virtually hold its 2021 Annual General Meeting, presented by Gallagher Skippers‰Ûª Plan, on Friday, October 22.

The 2021-2024 Strategic Plan launched last fall, as well as the past year and innovative business and sport developments to come will be among the topics that will be discussed at the AGM. As one of the key goals of Sail Canada‰Ûªs new Strategic Plan, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity will also be at the heart of the discussion and will feature a panel discussion, led by Inclusion Inc., an independent organization.

All sailors and members of Canadian clubs, schools and class associations are invited to take part in this virtual Annual General Meeting, along with clubs‰Ûª stakeholders, the Provincial and Territorial Sailing Associations, member organizations, Committee members, Coaches, Partner Representatives, as well as Sail Canada Board of Directors and Staff members. Friday, October 22

5pm-7:30pm (EDT)

  • Annual General Meeting
    • All are welcome to register and observe the Annual General Meeting. To be entitled to vote on the business of the AGM on behalf of a member organization, please submit a completed proxy form to sailcanada@sailing.ca.
    • All registered attendees who hold proxies entitling them to vote on behalf of a Sail Canada member organization will be emailed directly and be provided access to their unique voting url. Voting access will be sent directly to all eligible attendees, by email, by October 21, 2021.
  • Sport Panel Discussion: Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (IDE)

    ‰ÛÏExploring the Intersection of Safe Sport with Diversity and Inclusion‰Û

    This session will be moderated by Andrea Carey of INclusion INcorporated and will touch on how safe sport intersects with diversity and inclusion through a powerful panel discussion designed to bring to the surface what leaders in Sailing need to be considering as they work forward to create safer, more welcoming and more inclusive sailing experiences across the country. This session will explore some of the real-life experiences the panelists have gone through, while also looking forward to how we embrace these challenging situations to learn and grow together, based on the results of Sail Canada‰Ûªs recent national survey that will illustrate the importance of these sessions for the broader Sail Canada community.
