CLASS ASSOCIATIONS
As a Member National Authority, Sail Canada is a representative for Canadian Class Associations at the international (World Sailing) level.
Currently, there are many Sail Canada recognized class association members in Canada. Sailors are encouraged to contact their respective Class Associations to find out what racing circuits, organized class development, and/or recreational cruises are now available in their region or across Canada.

BECOME A SAIL CANADA MEMBER CLASS ASSOCIATION!
New or existing class associations simply apply or re-apply for an annual membership with Sail Canada. Returning the Sail Canada Class Association Information form to class@sailing.ca. There is an annual membership fee of $125.
SERVICES AVAILABLE FOR SAIL CANADA MEMBER CLASS ASSOCIATIONS
- Opportunity to apply to and utilize Sail Canada’s Financial Assistance Program (FAP) for eligible sailors’ campaigns and class programs
- Letters of endorsement for applications to your international Class Association to host a World Championship, applications for hosting grants, and delivery of sponsor packages
- When hosting a World Championship event in Canada, the Sail Canada provides guidance, support, and submission of applications for funding with Sport Canada’s Hosting Program
- Sail Canada provides your Association with any relative first-hand notices from World Sailing (Rules, Event Grading, etc.)
- Assistance and guidance in Event Planning:
- Notices of Race
- Sailing Instructions
- Assistance in recruiting Sail Canada certified Race Officials – Race Management teams, Jury & Umpires – for any of your one-design events
- Assistance in the recruitment of certified & insured Coaches and Expert contributors at Training Camps
- Upon receipt of information & / or links, visibility for your Class and any sponsors by means of sailing.ca
- Feature and News articles, Sail Canada’s e-Newsletter, Communiqués to Provincial partners and Regional programs, Member mailings
- For your Class National Championship, Member Class Associations receive 1 set of Sail Canada medallions for the top 3 boats
- Access to Duty Exemption for new equipment being brought into Canada
- Opportunity for your Class at Sail Canada’s Women’s Keelboat Championships
