North Okanagan Sailing Association (NOSA) has an opening for Senior CANSail coach / for a seasonal full time summer position in 2013. Reporting to NOSA’s CANSail Director, the successful candidate will coordinate and coach youth & adult CANSail program for the summer 2013 ( May 1st to August 31st ). This is a great opportunity for a post secondary / university student with previous Learn to Sail or CANSail coaching experience to gain valuable experience in lead position delivering the program, with a team of CANSail 1&2 instructor(s). We are offering a full time seasonal position at NOSA’s waterfront facility next to Paddle Wheel Park on the Vernon Arm of Okanagan Lake, Vernon, British Columbia.

NOSA’s CANSail program includes Water safety presentations to grade school students (300+) in May-June, Introduction to Sailing sessions to Grade 8 to 12 Physical Education classes, Navy Cadet program in May/June and CANSail 1&2 and 3&4 through June – August to 150 youth and 100 adults. Prospective candidates must be:

• a minimum adult age of 19 years to be the adult in charge of the program
• certified CANSail 3-4 instructor (CANSail 1-2 instructor may be considered)

• certified Emergency First Aid ( NOSA values Standard First Aid with CPR

  certification and will definitely be considered a favorable asset),

• RLSS Boat Safety Certification is current

  As NOSA is delivering program for youth, the successful candidate must provide NOSA a clean Police Record Check (PRC) prior to commencement of employment. Preference will also be given to a student returning to post secondary education in September 2013 ( a criteria of the federal student employment grant ).
