Racing began today in Oman at the 2013 Laser World Championships with two Laser fleets completing two races in shifty conditions. Nick Thompson (GBR) capitalized on the conditions and currently leads, followed by Stalhein (SWE) and Kontides (CYP). Canadian Lee Parkhill came out of the gate strong in the yellow fleet with a 9,8, sitting 12th overall. Olympian David Wright, also in the yellow fleet, currently sits in 36th.
The qualifying races continue on Monday with two scheduled for each day until Wednesday. The finals series starts on Thursday with the last two showdowns set for Saturday.
