Allan Leibel was the best Canadian at the 2025 CanAm 4 held March 24-25 in Charlotte Harbor, Florida, with a third-place finish. A total of six Canadians took part in this event on a total of 21 sailors.

Good luck to Tracy Schmitt who is taking part in the 2025 International Hansa Class World & International Championships, in conjunction with the Para World Sailing Championships, March 25-30, in Newport, Australia. Tracy is competing in the Hansa 303 One Person Open class along with 75 other sailors. More than 200 competitors representing 19 countries are taking part in this competition.

A total of 11 Canadians finished in the top 10 at the 2025 ILCA and 29er Midwinters West Regatta held last weekend in Long Beach, U.S.A. In 29er, congratulations to Kai Ramsey and William Stratton (2nd, RVYC), and Alexis Kuo and Ayden Kuo (9th, RVicYC). Also, congratulations to Alice Wan (RVYC), 6th in ILCA 4, Enzo Biello and Andrew Deseau (WVYC), respectively 8th and 9th in ILCA 6, and, in ILCA 7, to Sail Canada`s Development Squad member Fillah Karim (3rd, RVYC), Kelley Poole (4th, RVicYC), Al Clark (6th, JSC) and Duncan Pearce (10th, RVYC). A total of 36 Canadians took part in this event showcasing 209 sailors, including 22 teams in i420.

Webinaire : Comprendre la modélisation météorologique

Former National Team member and Atmospheric Physics Graduate Maura Dewey will present a webinar Wednesday, April 8, starting at 7:30pm (Kingston time): "Understanding Weather Modeling". Through the webinar, Maura will present information on wind and sea breeze types, effects of the shore, coastline and mountains, as well as weather preparation leading up to and during a regatta.
Maura balances her passion for meteorology and sailing as she holds a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Physics from the University of Victoria and is currently a PhD candidate at Stockholm University. Maura was also a member of the Concord Pacific Racing team at last year`s Puig Women`s America`s Cup. She regularly holds weather seminars for sailors and provides meteorological consulting for major competitions.

Webinaire : Comprendre la modélisation météorologique
L`ancienne membre de l`équipe nationale et graduée en physiques atmosphériques Maura Dewey présentera un webinaire le mercredi 8 avril, à compter de 19 h 30 (heure de Kingston) : "Comprendre la modélisation météorologique". Au cours du webinaire, Maura présentera de l`information au sujet des types de vent et de brises de mer, les effets du rivage, de la côte et des montagnes, ainsi que la préparation avant et pendant une régate.
Maura concilie sa passion pour la météorologie et la voile alors qu`elle est titulaire d`un baccalauréat en physique atmosphérique de l`université de Victoria et qu`elle est actuellement candidate au doctorat à l`université de Stockholm. Maura était également membre de l`équipe Concord Pacific Racing lors de la dernière édition de l`America`s Cup féminine Puig. Elle organise régulièrement des séminaires météorologiques pour les athlètes en voile et fournit des conseils météorologiques pour les grandes compétitions.

The NorthStar SailGP Team representing Canada finished second overall at the 5th stage of the 2025 SailGP season that took place in San Francisco, U.S.A., this weekend. The Canadian team is currently fifth in the 2025 overall standing. Next stage will be in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, May 3-4.

L`équipe NorthStar SailGP représentant le Canada a terminé au deuxième rang à la 5e étape de la saison 2025 de SailGP présentée à San Francisco, aux États-Unis, cette fin de semaine. L`équipe canadienne est présentement au cinquième rang du classement général 2025. La prochaine étape aura lieu à Rio de Janeiro, au Brésil, les 3 et 4 mai.

Four Canadians initiated to team sailing in New Zealand
Four Canadians from Saltspring Island Sailing Club joined three other local sailors to take part in the 2025 Secondary Schools Top of the South Regatta in New Zealand, March 20-22. The "Canadian Combo" team, including Maeve FitzZaland, Malikaa Clement, Reuben Sol and Izzi Pugh Aucoin, all new to team sailing, qualified for gold fleet following the first round robin, before being pushed back into silver fleet after the second day of competition and taking 4th place overall. A total of 16 teams took part in this three against three format event using i420 boats.

Quatre Canadiens initiés à la voile en équipe en Nouvelle-Zélande
Quatre Canadiens du Saltspring Island Sailing Club se sont joints à trois autres athlètes locaux pour participer à la 2025 Secondary Schools Top of the South Regatta en Nouvelle-Zélande, du 20 au 22 mars. L`équipe « Canadian Combo », composée de Maeve FitzZaland, Malikaa Clement, Reuben Sol et Izzi Pugh Aucoin, tous débutants en matière de voile en équipe, s`est qualifiée pour la flotte d`or à l`issue du premier tournoi à la ronde, avant d`être repositionnée en flotte argent à l`issue de la deuxième journée de compétition et de prendre la quatrième place au classement général. Au total, 16 équipes ont participé à cette compétition en format trois contre trois sur des bateaux i420.
