In a remarkable display of talent and perseverance, Brazil's Robert Scheidt wins the Laser World Championships for the 9th time yesterday. “This feels more special than any of the other Laser Worlds I have won,” said Scheidt, who returned to the Lasers after nine years in the Star class to compete at an Olympic Games in his home waters in Rio de Janeiro.
Canadian Lee Parkhill rounded out his race week with a solid 9th place, finishing the event in 19th. Other Canadians in the Gold fleet, David Wright and Robert Davis finished up 41st and 44th respectively in the 126 boat fleet.
That marks the end of the 2013 Laser Standard World Championships and the start of the Masters Laser World Championships from Nov 28-December 7th. Stay tuned for Canadian updates from Oman!
