Kelowna Yacht Club - Disabled Sailing Association of BC - Sailing Instructor 2013
Start Date: June 24th (negotiable)
The Okanagan Branch of the Disabled Sailing Association of British Columbia is offering full time summer employment for a sailing instructor to work with some very special people in beautiful Kelowna, BC. We work with people with various challenges including visual impairments and other physical challenges as well as some cognitive challenges. We offer our sailors instruction, companionship and racing opportunities. Our program utilizes a fleet of 3 Martin 16 sailboats and a motorized coach boat.
· Job Description
o sail with and instruct sailors with disabilities
o rig and de-rig the boats
o help maintain the fleet of Martin 16s in good working order
o assist with scheduling sails
o help with racing clinics and participate in integrated racing with KYC Fleet
o drive power coach boat for safety and instructional purposes
· Minimum requirements
o CYA instructor/coach certification
o Standard First Aid
o CPR
o PCOC
o VHF Radio license
· Assets
o lots of sailing experience
o previous work or volunteer experience with disabled people and/or seniors
o power boat experience
Instructor MUST be a student and intend to be a student in the fall of 2013.
