The 2013 Laser World Championships are underway with 128 Laser sailors bustling around the host venue in Al-Mussanah Sports City, located 100km North of Muscat, Oman. Sailors have been treated to warm seas, light breeze and breathtaking views during their training and acclimatization. 

All the heavy hitters are in town including number one ranked Laser sailor
Tom Burton (AUS), three-time Olympic medallist Robert Scheidt, Sweden’s Jesper Stalheim, and many other accomplished sailors. The Canadian contingent includes 2012 Olympian David Wright (RCYC), Lee Parkhill (RCYC), Tom Ramshaw (RCYC), Robert Davis (KYC), Evert McLaughlin (RCYC),  & Alex Heinzemann (RVYC). National team coach Steve Mitchell has been working the team hard in preparation for this pinnacle event. 

Mussanah Sports City
in Oman, the world class sailing facility purpose built to Olympic standards, is all set to host its first ever sailing world championships! 

Practice racing starts tomorrow followed by qualifying rounds and finals ending on November 23rd.
