Today marks the first day of racing for Canadian sailors at the Weymouth and Portland International Regatta 2011. Canadian pride is flying high at the 2012 Olympic venue as the team enters into race mode.
Team Leader and High Performance Director Ken Dool comments “The team is here in full force and things are shaping up for an eventful week. The venue is outstanding, with significant space, quality facilities and thus far over the 3 years of training here, fantastic sailing conditions. Through the support of Own the Podium, Sport Canada, COC and Wind Athletes, we have a solid home away from home in Weymouth/Portland, including a training home for housing team members, access to the Olympic venue, and now the recent addition of our workshop container. The Olympic Test event is a simulation event to learn about the venue, the organisation, the conditions, our competition and trialing all facets of the Canadian Olympic plan.”
Daily updates, results, and photos of the Canadian Sailing Team will be posted on the Canadian Sailing Team FACEBOOK page. Official event results and live tracking are posted HERE.
